The cable network giant SETTV recently bought the MTV channel. They will be on a “VJ hunt” next year to recruit new talents. Rumors say that they've already decided internally that Chris Wang will be part of its hosting line-up since he's strong in foreign languages. MTV praises the star for his healthy image and hopes that he will take part in hosting. Interestingly, Calvin Chen, who is a host from MTV, will be crossing between the competing networks GTV and SETTV -- Calvin films dramas from GTV, while MTV's new owner SETTV also produces dramas.
SETTV plans to invest 30 million TWD to upgrade MTV’s hardware, hoping that SETTV’s current HD technology will assist the network in improving its productions. SETTV also hopes to expand into the international market with MTV’s help.
Fans will be thrilled to know that they are bringing back its annual “MTV Mandarin Awards” concert. It has been five years since its last concert and this year’s show will take place at Kaohsiung on the 27th. Performers include Show Luo, ELVA, and 14 others.
