Doze Niu held a press conference at Taipei 101 for his upcoming movie, “Love”, and introduced his leads Shu Qi, Ethan Ruan, Mark Chao, and Vicki Zhao. With production costing three-hundred million TWD, Niu also announced new cast members for the movie: Eddie Peng, Amber Kuo, Ivy Chen, and…himself. Despite being criticized for his bad acting in Monga, Director Niu is determined to act in his movies; he is confident that his acting has improved. He expressed, “I’ve never said that I would not appear in my works. I just wasn’t prepared well when I filmed Monga. I’ve decided I won’t refrain myself and take a back seat anymore. I will act in every one (of my movies).”
As the “four dashing men”, Director Niu along with Eddie, Ethan, and Mark, arrived at the press conference in a ten million dollar car, attracting many tourists to scream and snap photos. At the press con, Director Niu was reluctant to reveal the storyline of the movie. Although the media spotted Ethan and Shu Qi "test" filming a “saving the damsel in distress” scene on the street, Director Niu wittily said, “I play a couple with Ethan in the movie, but nobody seems to believe this.” He added, “I’ve heard people recommending that we should pair up Ethan with Mark, and Shu Qi with Vicki.” However, he confirms that everyone is “straight” in the movie.
“Love” plans to hit theaters next year around Chinese New Year or Valentine’s Day.
