Gary Cao takes off again 1 year after "drunken fist" incident

Last year in September, Malaysian singer-songwriter Gary Cao was caught in a fight with Hong Kong singer Justin Lo on the streets of Hong Kong under the influence of alcohol – and even ended up in court. Gary reveals that he once thought about quitting his singing career after the incident, realizing that he had truly disappointed many of his friends and family.

Gary admits that he won’t quit drinking because of what happened, but swears that he “had not drunk a drop of alcohol this year.” And it's because he hasn’t found a reason to drink yet.

After a year break, Gary has brightened up since and is ready to take off once again; he laughed, “The company gave me a lot of money.” He will be releasing his new album, “Back In Control” (曹之在我), on the 13th and he will be holding a concert in Hong Kong on the 20th. He promises, “I’ll drink a glass with everyone at the concert’s celebration party!”

Gary's good friend Ah Dan, who also wrote the lyrics to his hit song "Betrayal", attended his press conference and gave him a basket full of milk flavored candies, wishing him success with his new album.  Gary, whose wife just gave birth to a baby girl, said, "It's too bad I can't take these home because my wife doesn't want the kids to be eating candy."  Gary was immediately teased of being afraid of his wife, but he quickly explained that he is simply being respectful.

Gary's "Back In Control" is now available for preorder on YesAsia!
