Zhong Wu Yen fends off new competition to remain on top

Zhong Wu Yen managed to stay on top of the Sunday idol drama ratings despite some new competitors last weekend.  The SETTV production drew an average of 2.92% and surpassed ratings from its debut episode for the first time.

Summer’s Desire came in second place with 1.64%. It remains to be seen if ratings will go up for the final episode this Sunday (as most dramas do, but not in the case of Calling For Love.) In last place was the new drama Endless Love starring Will Pan and Sandrine Pinna. It debuted with an unimpressive 0.96%, but then again, that's the best idol drama ratings CTS has had since February.

The three dramas got some stiff competition from the final of One Million Star: Star Legend.  It had an early start at 8 pm and went on for more than 3 hours. CTV moved to the live broadcast to Sunday to avoid going up against Rookies Diary. Their tactic paid off as the Friday (recap) show drew a dismal 0.65%, while the Sunday final drew 2.24%. It was the first time for CTV to score above 2% on a Sunday night since May, but it was also the lowest-rated final in the history of One Million Star.

The live show included performances by former contestants including Rachel Liang, Lala Xu and Jing Wong, along with special guests Tiger Huang and Karen Mok. Former challenger Janice Yan was crowned the winner as expected, followed by Rose Liu and Uni Yeh in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Detective Conan will return to his regular time slot on CTV this Sunday.
