Mandopop duo AK delays South Korean debut to later this summer

The handsome Mandopop duo AK were slated to break into South Korea's highly competitive pop music market in June, hoping to compete against estasblished "flower boy" groups that have been the rage with Korean versions of songs from their latest Mandopop release. But due to the recent political turmoil between North and South Korea over the sinking of a South Korean military vessel earlier this year, AK and their Korean music label have delayed those plans to at least July to August.

The pop duo -- consisting of Taiwanese singers Andy Chen and Kris Shen -- had initially planned to expand into the South Korean pop market by formally signing with their music label in a press conference in Seoul before the recent political crisis.
