ELVA Hsiao’s mom passed away on New Year's day

ELVA Hsiao completed a successful concert at the Taipei Arena on December 31st, unfortunately she was hit with some very sad news concerning her mom. After a long battle with cancer, ELVA’s mom Yeh Xiu-Ling passed away on the 1st at 11:16 AM. She has been undergoing chemotherapy, and developed cold induced lung lesions that led to internal bleeding.

After her last (paid-event) concert 6 years ago, fans packed the Taipei Arena to see ELVA perform in the first stop of her “E!VA WOW” world tour. She changed into 10 wardrobes and performed for nearly 3 hours. The concert began with her arrival in a diamond-shaped “boat”, and she made the fans go wild when she ripped off her mask.

Special guest A-Mei (張惠妹) joined ELVA on stage to sing Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back” and her hit song “Victoria’s Secret”. ELVA thanked her fans with a hand-written letter, and printed it on a card as a souvenir for everyone. She mentioned, “After debuting for many years, performing many songs, going up on many stages, you still wouldn't be able to imagine what tonight means to me.” Her close friend actress Cheryl Yang (楊謹華) went on stage to give her a hug, and gave her best wishes.

ELVA’s manager revealed that her mother has been in a coma for the past 5 to 6 days, but she firmly believed that her mom would regain consciousness again. ELVA visited the hospital after her concert celebration party. She took a break to go home and wash up, but was told the news of her mother's passing before she made it back to the hospital.

ELVA and her younger brother were raised by their single mother. Ms. Yeh was a well-known successful businesswoman who supported her daughter through career highs and lows. As the head of Tantron International (involved in the semiconductors business), her net worth was estimated to be in the hundreds of millions.
