Landy comes back with "D.I.S.C.O"

It's been two years since Landy Wen's last album, Hot Wave, and Landy has finally released her latest album, Dancing Queen.  During these past two years, she has gone to further develop her singing and dancing skills in the US.  Wait a minute.  Dancing?  Thinking back to when I first heard of Landy way back in 2000, she was known as a powerful R & B singer with albums produced by the Jay Chou.

It seems that Landy has been struggling to find the right style for herself.  Her albums have done pretty well but it has been awhile since the last spectacular hit.  Although "Fool" was a huge hit, it falls into the same issue as Gary's "Betrayal", where it was made a hit after a singing contestant had resung it during the competition, and many remember the resung version more than the original.

Landy comes back with, "D.I.S.C.O" in her latest album, Dancing Queen, which is a cover of Um Jung-Hwa's, "D.I.S.C.O" (Korean).  As seen on the album photos, Landy is now distinguishing herself more as a dancing diva after the success of Hot Wave.  Nonetheless, you'll still find a mix of KTV songs and a little bit of R & B songs in addition to the dance music in her latest album.

In this case, I would say that there is just a bit too much of a mix here.  I was expecting a bit more dance or upbeat songs in the album.  There are some slow KTV songs which seem to veer too much away from the dance theme.  I can only say that this is most likely because a big part of the sales depend on KTV hits.
